We left Christchurch and headed across the flat plains of Canterbury and up to Hanmer where we enjoyed another day soaking in the natural hot pools, which was much needed after quite a bit of driving time and changeable weather so needless to say we needed a good bit of exercise and good soak. We hooked up with a friend for dinner at the camp site where Isla enjoyed a quick dip in the river, she enjoys getting in the water at every opertunity. After a few days in Hanmer we headed over the Lewis pass again which is such a stunning drive as we weaved our way between the lush mountains as we climb and cling to the road overhanging the rivers in places ! all the way up to the little country village of Merchison.
