We spent a few days at lake Tekapo where we camped at the NZMCA camp, right on the lakeside just out of town. Pretty peaceful spot sheltered in pine trees- known as the Tekapo pines which we managed to find ourselves a few after Paul climbing one of the big trees to grab as a souvenir. The township itself is quite developed compaired to when we were last here 12 years ago. We’re finding that throughout New Zealand there’s a lot of development on the flat land massively expanding the townships. So after some walking ,meeting musicians, climbing trees, school work, yoga and natural hot pools, ho and not to forget the Tsunami warning which is always a worry for New Zealand, we hit the road again onto Methven. We passed through for only a night, walked around town and enjoyed a morning coffee in the local morning hotspot – the op / coffee shop – giving quite a cosey feeling of sitting in a lounge surrounded by an interesting array of preloved things for sale. So with it being a Saturday and no school day we could leave early, onto Christchurch to hook up with some old friends.
